wool fabric for mattress cover
I am still in the process of renovating my house from Hurricane Florence. I often look at things I would like for my home after the renovation is complete. Of course, I like nice things on my bed, most quilters do. I was looking at beautiful wool mattress covers, but the prices are ridiculous. As a result I was thinking of making one. I would need 60 inch wide thick wool fabric. does anyone know where I can purchase online for a reasonable about of money. Or other suggestions. The wool covers are nothing more then a thick piece of wool with thick elastic on each corner.

Making the assumption you are trying to avoid the cost of the real thing?
wool batting, quilted so it didn't shred over time?
wool blankets and throws are readily available.
all that said, I had one, specifically sold as a mattress cover (light and breathable) and it consistently slid and wrinkled under the sheet. Uncomfortably so. I added four more elastic with clips to sides and top/bottom and it didn't help.
I suppose you could add one to a standard fitted sheet and it might stay in place that way?
I purchased and struggled with mine because it was recommended to keep our thermopedic mattress from molding.
I loved that mattress to sleep on but it was a struggle in many ways, and I'm glad it is gone now...

I haven't tried it, just thinking out loud, but I don't know any battings that were made to stand alone, only hold up in a quilt. So if I were going to try just using wool batting I'd run it through the machine like in a quilt, but on it's own. The purchased wool mattress cover I had was covered in stitches. Hope that makes sense
