QuiltNan....we also have Direct TV but we can watch two different shows in two different rooms at the same time...wonder why you can't? I'll agree about the lag echo though.

We don't have those issues with D-TV. We are able to watch different channels. Occasionally, it will go out due to weather conditions but usually short term (less than 10 minutes). We upgraded to the wireless system so I can move TV to any wall now. Nice for the bedroom TV as it used to be limited to the wall with the cable connection.

Service is most likely area related. Our local area has been great.

We could only get Dish Network out here in the boondocks, but we just found out that high speed internet will be available here very soon. So we are planning to hook up with them and ditch the dish. Service has been so-so, but price goes up yearly with poorer viewing choices.
I agree with Rhonda K that problems are probably area-related.

We have DirectTV and we are quite happy with it. We had DISH and when a moose destroyed the dish it was replaced by a smaller dish and we were told that is what they install in Alaska now--no choice of size. On a clear day we would only get local stations---we were paying over $80 a month to see nothing. Finally, we changed to DirectTV and maybe get a little pixilation that lasts for a second and then back to normal. Doesn't bother me to have a 2 year contract. This first year our payments are low. We get so many programs now we never got with DISH--Animal Planet, OAN, Hallmark, etc.

We have had Directtv for more than 20 years, never had any problems , of course we live in CA and the weather is mostly sunny, the reps are very helpful, if we experience any problems they gives us freebies.

We pay a little each month to not have a cancellation fee or penalty. Not much. You have to ask for it and they have to give it to you. We moved and Direct Tv is the only source we had. So far it's been okay. We got the basic package with no limit internet through AT&T. It is cheaper then our cable we had. But you have to watch because if you get a great deal on a bundle then the price goes up after two years, a lot. Always check to see what the cost will be after the time runs out. That's why we got the penalty free added so we could cancel anytime
