I live on Long Island, about 60 miles from NYC.
We have ads all the time for the plays being shown in NYC.
SO, where you live, do you have ads pertaining to certain "Highlights" in your area?
If you so, what are they? Just courious about the other areas of the country.

Nothing like NYC theater section on Manhattan. Even LA has no comparison. Hope you are able to catch a show once in a while.

about once every 4 yrs. the prices are prohibitive.
Usually minimum of $100 A SEAT. and the theatreas pack them in
and the seats are tiny and close. BUT...worth it for sure. I think
"LION KING" was the best ever. but then again. the movies was my favorite.

I live in outskirts of a town of 2500. A mile south is a theater in a redone barn -can do dinner . Live productions all the time with tickets costing $55. Went few times --once a comedy set in NYC naturally by the writer. My friends and I said it would have been far more enjoyable to us if they would change the names local to us as many here haven't been to NYC and then the jokes weren't the same.

Other productions in the area too. Went to dinner theater in July held in community center by a Little theater group that does a terrific job --comedy mystery show. But, only twice a year.

Remember when Lion King in Toronto cost $92. yrs ago so I wouldn't go-- over 2 hrs driving too.
Not hubby's favorite type of evening so go rarely. Think you would be surprised how many of these groups exist in the more rural areas of both countries. Seems these groups buy the play from NY writers .

A Shakespeare production is done outside every July in our Kawartha Settlers Village (like Williamsburg VA)
More reasonable fund raiser yet actors are a paid group that travel.

I know Florida advertises all the time Disney and Universal. I guess Tennessee ads. Dollywood

We have the wonderful Civic Center. Broadway shows all the time play here. Tickets can run about $85, but they also have the cheap seats. A membership makes them even cheaper.

We have what is called a 'Civic Theatre' and it advertises the plays it does. There's also a Symphony Orchestra. We pretty much stay home in the evenings...although there are quite a few folks in this area that go and support those things. The prices are reasonable and could be do-able on a fixed income if one planned for them.

We have lots of ads here too Lynnie. I went years back to a live performance of "Les Mise'rables" . I really enjoyed it.

Downtown Cleveland has Playhouse Square. It's 3 magnificent theatres built in the 20's and totally redone to their original glory. Sadly the most magnificent theatre was torn down before anyone could save it, the Hippodrome.

We get the NY shows and ballets.

Last year a 20 ft. crystal chandelier was hung over Euclid Ave., so it is really something to see.
