Hi and welcome to the board from Iowa. It is hard to be fearless at first. Kits limited me because I needed that little bit of extra fabric in case I made a wrong cut, but it actually only happened once. You will be fine and can move forward; read all instructions and start. Please show pics as you progress. This is a great support place to be.

Hello and welcome from SC..And yes, it sure can strike fear..It does to me too..Especially when I have to make the first cut into a beautiful fabric..I am a first time quilter and in the process of making 2 quilts right now..So my fear is still going on :D ..One thing that I have learned from this wonderful group is that a quilt does not have to be perfect, and that with each cut and each stitch we are growing and learning..And that keeps me going..Knowing that if I mess up, someone here can always help me to fix it..

With all of the machines that are out there...which is the best to get started with...I keep seeing all the ads on JoAnn's Fabric on line and in the store...they send me discount coupons ever since I purchased my supplies. I'm brand new to quilting and sewing...too many choices. Any advice?
