Default Greetings from NJ

I am a largely self-taught quilter who has been working on quilts for years. For some reason, there are very few quilt shops in my corner of NJ. Even fabric can be hard to find. And thread is impossible, especially specialty threads. Everything I read says that I should be using a slightly thicker thread for quilting, but I have not been able to find it locally. What would you suggest, and is there an online site you'd suggest that I get it from?

Welcome from NY. Aurifil is a very nice thread for piecing and quilting. I use connecting threads for piecing at the moment. I bought 2 huge cones of it from Amazon and I am still on the first cone. I am using Superior threads Omni thread for quilting.

I like fabric.com, connectingthreads.com, and other online sites. Welcome from the beautiful mountains of western NC.

Hi from MD! I like Connecting Threads . Their Essential brand is very economical and good quality. I've also used Superior thread. One of these days I'll splurge on Aurifil and Sulky, but I'm afraid of falling in love with them, considering cost.

Welcome from another Jersey girl! From what corner of the state do you hail?? Can't offer any online suggestions for either thread or fabric as I use whatever thread for piecing and don't normally machine quilt. And I'm very fortunate to have a very nice LQS truly just around the corner. Perhaps could give you some insights as to other shops in the state which you may want to travel to though.
