Hi!I'm Afton and I am a beginning quilter. I just made a baby quilt for my niece, a nine square pattern that was pretty simple. I hand piece and hand quilt. I find the handwork soothing, and it makes me think of the hand made quilts my great grandmother made for us as kids, I always admired them.

I would love some help with easy pattern ideas and hand piecing and hand quilting advice.

Thank you!

dresdon plate, use the template ( 5.00's at JoAnnes) for true measurements. Assembly is easy for this.

Thank you! I love the dresden pattern, and how vibrant or quiet you could be with color, but I was worried about keeping seams even piecing by hand. I am really tempted to try though :)

A "Rail Fence", "Log Cabin", "Warm Wishes", "Disappearing 9 Patch (D9P)", "Take 5", "Yellow Brick Road", and the "Friendship Star Block" are pretty simple.

Take a look at Quilter's Cache and find a simple block and try a sampler!

Good Luck! :)
