Welcome aboard from the Seattle area.

I also love reading but I have vision issues and can't really read for pleasure any more, a few years ago I started on Audio Books and the lovely thing is I can sew and "read" at the same time now!

Always looking for some good authors, I do more of the courtroom/spy/detective sort of thing (like the Jack Reacher/Lee Child books or Clive Cussler) than traditional mysteries but I listen to a bit of everything, fiction and non-fiction.

Welcome from Maryland, where the weather was picture perfect yesterday for being outside reading. I agree that if you can find a spot to set up your sewing stuff and leave it up, you'll sew more often.

As for cutting into fabric that's "just too pretty"--there was a whole thread on the topic recently. It's a common problem and some of us actually overcome it now and then.

Welcome to the board!
I used to have trouble cutting up Jinny Beyer fabrics but nowadays I'm using them.
I also love to read and love audio books as well. I can "read" while doing any number of other things.

Welcome from AZ! Quilting is easier on my eyes than reading, but some times I get in the Agatha Christie mood and reread many of her books.

Welcome from Minneapolis! I'm a fan of mystery novels too: Lee Child and Ann Cleeves are my current go-to's.

Thanks for the welcome! I know this is a quilting forum but since there are also a lot of readers out there may I suggest my favorite authors: (M.C. Beaton for cozies), Louise Penny, Michael Connelly and #1: James Lee Burke (his Dave Robicheaux series is fantastic!). Unfortunately I only have three more books to go and I will be through the entire series to date. I need to do less reading this winter and whittle down my stash. Happy quilting all!

Hello and welcome from an Iowa Girl!

I'm in the other far corner of the state! Fortunately have an LQS nearby (8 miles), one 20 miles and 3 or 4 40 miles away.
