Hi Jeanie, We are the same age and I live not too far from you, in North Louisiana. We keep busy making stuff here, too!

Hello and welcome from just across the Oklahoma state line. I'm about 80 miles from you. I actually lived in Mena for a year when I was a teenager. We ride our bike up to Queen Wilamena and come down through Mena to eat. Used to love going into your WM and shopping for fabric. They always had a good selection. Do they still carry fabric?

Hi 4girlsmimi, Yes Walmart still carries fabric. But a lot of times it is not what I am looking for for quilts. One of these days I will make it into Fort Smith or Hot Springs to go to a regular fabric store. Right now I am in the process of finishing a bedspread size quilt for our bed. I just need to decide on how to quilt it, then get the batting and backing material. Jeanniebelle

Hi LaineyBelle, Mena has about 5600 people. I also was very young when I learned to sew. The way my mother taught me was to throw everything on the cutting table and told me to have at it. So I literally taught myself. I have also made several wedding dresses, also a 5-piece fully lined and tailored ladies ensemble made out of wool and silk. I have made several winter coats. Need to take husband to work. Talk with you later. Jeanniebelle

I always stopped to get gas and eat when in Mena. This is a great forum. There are some great people here ready to help with anything and everything.
