Default Hello from New Orleans!

Hi everyone! My name is Kari, I’m glad to be here! I’d like to say “fellow quilters” but I’m such a beginner that I am actually just learning to sew properly! I can’t wait to start reading the forums, and getting to know you guys, I know that everyone that I’ve met who is a quilter is very willing to help me in real life. My first project is to make my sister – who lives in Minneapolis – a nice warm quilt. We grew up in North Dakota and I lived in Minneapolis for 13 years, and I finally had enough! So, although it’s only in the 50s today, I’m sure that it’s warmer than back home. I have made several sets of curtains for our home, and they don’t look like a 2 year old who used pinking shears to cut the fabric, so my sewing skills are… improving. It’s a pleasure to meet you all!

<3 Kari (or Chemtiger – I went to LSU for my chemistry degree, and we’re Tigers!)

Howdy from Texas! Your sister will be thrilled to get a quilt from you. Ask as many questions as you can think of. Everyone here is so willing to help & are so encouraging. We would love to see the progress on your quilt. We love pictures!

Welcome to the boards and grats on majoring in chemistry!

My unsolicited advice for the beginning quilter is consistency. Think of it like chemistry, you might be able to get away with a little too much here or there, but it could all blow up depending on what you do and how you do it
