Default Hello

I am Jim and I am from Tasmania, Australia.
I happen to be a blind quilter who quilts using his hands and uses his sense of touch to determine colours from the heat or cool they give off.
I have been quilting since I was 8 wich is almost 50 years.

Welcome Jim. Tell us more on how you have learned to quilt and I would love to see some of your quilts.

Welcome from Southern Indiana, USA...we would love to hear more about how you learned to quilt, and to see pictures. There are a couple of blind quilters here in the USA...one in Texas and one in Tennessee (that I know of) and they do amazing work! My hat is off to you.....

Hello Jim!

I have declining vision issues and am determined to quilt as long as I can, but I remember way back to when I was a little girl in the Little House on the Prairie books about how blind Mary could sew better than impatient Laura. I've always been more of a Laura but I'm learning and working on adaptive techniques. In my type of blindness I'm losing the ability to focus but I will always have large shapes and colors so comparatively I've got it good.

Glad to have you on the boards. Please do share pictures when/if you can but I understand what it is like to not be visually motivated

Welcome from Texas. I never thought or heard of colors giving off different heat. What an inspiration you will be to our board. We love pictures & would really like to see what you have made. I know we will be able to learn a lot from you. Thanks for joining the Quilting Board.
