Hi everyone, I have been lurking for a while now and thought I better introduce myself. I'm Barbara, 27 y.o., and quickly becoming a quilting addict. My mother and grandmother have quilted for years and I just never was interested until recently. Now, I have quickly learned their love for it and I am glad they never gave up on teaching me.
We have several wonderful quilt shops around the city (7 to be exact) and my SUV is learning the routes to all of them (as well as my pocketbook). :D
Anyways, I have loved looking at all the beautiful projects on here and hopefully soon I will be able to post one of my own. Right now I am working on just a basic squares quilt so that I can get practice with 1/4" seams and learn how to use my new sewing machine. Hopefully, the top will be done this evening.
Well, that is probably enough for now. If you have anything you want to know, just ask. -Barbara

Welcome Barbara! Your story sounds like mine! My grandmother was a semstress with her own shop and everything. Later my mother took up quilting until her life ate up her time, and has been away from it for a while, and now here I am, eager to take up the slack.
Welcome to the board. I think it's a great idea for you to practice seams and such, that's what I did, I started with a 9 patch, and as I learned my abilities grew. Not to mention my sewing got better, ;) Thank goodness! ;)

Welcome from another former Hoosier. Lots of great ideas to be found here.
What part are you from? I grew up East of Indy and lived in Ft. Wayne and Chesterton for a few years.
Again, Welcome to the group!
