Hi my name is Peggy. I just joined this message board and wish to introduce myself.

I am a 63 yr old Grandmother of 4 grandsons. I live in Wetzel County in WV. I have been a quilter for probably 20 years and love it. I just keep it for my winter months tho. Mainly because I do to much traveling in the summer months to keep up with my quilts.

Looks like I will be traveling this winter too so does not look like my sewing center is going to get set up until sometime in Feb. I usually set it up after Xmas. I shut the world out, which you can do when you are retired, and quilt my heart out.

I am presently working on a t shirt quilt that I started last winter. I thought it would be a nice way to preserve all of my souvenier T shirts I have bought through the years.

I spend alot of time on my computer, which is a no no if you want to accomplish anything on a quilt. I am very interested in finding a friend to chat with about quilts.

Thanks for inviting me to this group.

Peggy

Hi PeggY,
Nancy here from Wi. I am a full time baker/ bakery mangr. I quilt (for only a year now) , I garden, and do allot of things for friends in need. I guess I am service minded. Allot going on here, I have a son serving in Afghanistan, that takes allot of mental time. His wife and kiddies live in Maine, so i travel there 2x a year to visit. I also have another son there, who married a girl from there, so that's where I spend my limited vaca time!
I have made only a few quilts, lots of table runners......and have been having fun learning the skills needed to complete these things. I do love it, I took a class last jan., my teacher was (is) a 75 year old FANTASIC quilter! I am very blessed by that!
Am glad to meet you, have sent a quick note to your e-mail address.......Nancy

Hi MawMaw,

I asked my husband because this is his home state. Where Genoa or Wayne were. He didn't know. So can you give me a little more info on it. We live in Wetzel County, below Wheeling. I am from WI originially but moved here as a new bride 43 years ago. So I should be familiar with where things are but heck I don't even know where everything is in WI and grew up there. lol

45 is so young to be a grandma but then guess I was not much older (48)when my first grandson appeared. He was the only one we had for 10 years and have had 3 more since.

Are you working on a quilt now? If so what? Do you machine piece or applique or both?

As I stated before. Am waiting to come back from TX to start working on one now.

Traveling is not really my joy. I would rather stay home all the time but that is the only way I get to know my grand children. Until recently all 4 of them were out of state. The oldest just moved back this year.

My parents lived in AZ while my kids were growing, they never made much of an effort to get to know them. Vowed I would not miss out on my grand children growing up. So as long as we are able we go.

Take care. Note my husband looked it up and said you are down near Charleston. Not to far from here. We sometimes travel through Charleston when heading south.

Take care.
