Welcome! You don't live too far from me...Gonzales, Tx. Though originally from Texas, we lived in Northern Indiana for almost 9 years. Was so happy not to have to bring our snow thrower with us! Would love to see some of the quilts you've made!

Oh, just this evening I got on Youtube and found some good tutorials on paper piecing. Made it so much easier to understand when I could actually watch someone do it. That might be just one of many places to look.

Hi I have pictures topost now

This is what the peices will look like , pleae note the light darks are reversed, Fold the folded peice in half and finger press, Now fold the folded peice and match the four squares up with the center fold sandwhiched between the rest.

Do you see the bow tie, If you want a light colored tie the center peice should be with light colored fabric. I hop0e you make this, It was so much fun to make i made the wholed quilt in two days

The center folded block will be sewn between two squares as shown, Now Hold the folded peice and place between other two bloks with the dark and light colors reversed.

please note the center folded peice will be between the four squares and you will sew across the top of the block with the folded center peice in between.

Now sandwich the folded peice between a dark and light square, sew down the side ,

The center folded block will be sewn between two squares as shown, Now Hold the folded peice and place between other two bloks with the dark and light colors reversed.

this is an attempt to show the peice sewn together, please note after sewing all together when you unfold and open the square the center of the tie will be puffey, It beautiful,

Greetings from Northern Califorina. There are quite a few tutorials on paper piecing in the Tutorial section. I think amma's is very detailed.
http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-25541-1.htm

Once you master the paper piecing, then you can translate the process for the Kimonos.

I'm sure you will get lots of good advice here.
