Hello Everyone-

I just signed up and I wanted to say HI. I'm afraid I don't find the navigation very intuitive. Is there a best place to get started? And how do you access it? I'm not even sure how I got this far but it was about a dozen random clicks... Any advice on how to post picture?

I'm 72. I live in Los Angeles. I've been quilting for a long time. I guess I made my first one in my 20s. But I don't really do it often. I just completed a top I probably started 6 years ago.

I can't machine quilt. Taken sooooo many classes but I'm just helpless at managing the stitches and also knowing which direction to take them in.

I like traditional and kaliedoscopic quilts. I'm especially fond of batiks and woven-in plaids.

I used to have a good file of blogs, tutorials and inspiration sites on my computer but I recently had probs and lost everything. Now I've got to rebuild those resources.

In case this works, here is the top I just finished. The pattern is called Shakespeare in the Park. Lots of movement and I rather like the slow reveal of the motifs.

Nope! Can't figure the pix thing out...

Welcome to the QB, Rainey. It won't take you long to learn your way around this place. Maybe I can help you with posting a picture. I'm a year older than you and not super computer savy but I'll try.

First, the picture can't be too big. I'm not sure exactly how big is too big but I tend to reduce my pictures maybe half two or three times. It all depend upon what camera you are using and your computer I suppose. Just reduce your picture if it tells you it can't post it or it doesn't post it.

You have to be in the advanced reply mode to post a picture so click on 'go advanced' and when you are in that mode and advance down below the box where you're typing in your message, you'll come across, 'manage attachments'. Click on that and a browse window will open up where you can select your picture from your computer (reduced in size of course) and then click on upload. You will see your picture info show up on that browse window. It will be added into your post at that point. You won't see it until you preview your post or you post it.

Hope that helped. Do try again and if you have questions, just ask. Someone will help you if I'm not around.

Howdy & welcome from Texas. It took me a while to navigate through the boards when I started also. I always just click on the "What's New?" tab at the top & it takes me to all posts that have been recently added (no matter what section they were posted in). Yes, try to reduce your picture before you post it. That is usually the culprit when it doesn't attach. I think you will love it here.

Hi and welcome from North Carolina!

You found the right place for all kinds of help, but this tech stuff is too far above my head... I don't even have a phone that takes pictures. All my phones are only one step newer than the old, old rotary ones! Remember them?

Welcome from an Iowa Girl!

When first on the board, I found that when in doubt, I could always go "Home". That's where all the topics are listed. Once you have posted on a thread it will come up in your "Subscribed Threads" and you can see other replies. Now to find this, go to the "Quick Links" tab and a drop down will be found with "Subscribed Threads" first up. Click on that and you will find the threads you have replied to. Good luck, it takes a bit, but like everything else, the more you use it the more it becomes familiar!

Welcome aboard! I'm pretty computer savvy but it took me a long time to get the right balance between my old school camera and posting on this board.

That help FAQ is pretty great, but I don't see all the options shown on the screen shots for whatever reasons. My major problem is that the file size of my pictures is too big. I use the site below because it is simple and easy, rather limited in what it does but it does what I want! I have no connection with the site but part of the reason I use it is it doesn't set my virus protection sensors off!

I can post pictures here directly from my downloads after reducing them. Then I take them out of downloads and put them in my "quilting" subfolder under pictures.
