welcome from MN! You will love it here!! I don't think ANY type of quilting is "cheater" quilting!! Well, unless you took credit for someone else's work...?!

I like your take on a "cheater's"... and the work and mistakes are all mine!!! LOL

Hey from South Louisiana. Congratulations on finding us  AND on the doc degree. This quilting will help you "get the kinks out" when you're stressed. Your life will never be the same. You will love the board and all of the great people here. Everyone is always ready to help. Believe me, you can ask them anything.

Welcome to both of you! We love to see where everyone is from. If you go into My Profile and fill in the FROM category, it will show up when you make posts.

As for "cheater" panels, that's not the correct name - a quilt teacher once told me that they are "efficiency panels."  I've certainly done my fair share of them, as they were a great way to get my feet wet in quilting.

I love the term efficiency quilt and will begin using it! I just bought a new panel (juvenile barnyard print) to work on for my office and to keep my sanity.

I have also decided to create my own quilt top from fabric scraps I have saved from garments I have made.... most of the scraps are between 20-30 years old. It will not be a "pretty quilt" but it will be a "memory quilt". I am hoping to sew the scraps together and then work on hand quilting it during the fall semester while I work on my dissertation. Time will tell.....

I, too, love the name "efficiency quilt" -- Some of the panels you can get are just absolutely gorgeous!! And they make beautiful wall hangings. I've done a couple of these already this year :D
