Another Newbie from Michigan
 

Hello Everyone, I am from Clarkston Mi. Love to quilt and have become rather addicted. thinking of a new sewing machine. Looking at the Janome 8900 or a Used Bernina 820 QS. I have a Janome that I have used for years and it needs to be upgraded. Any opinions? I like the idea of the dual feed on the Bernina and some of the quilt stitches.
I love modern quilts and just about everything else as well.

Go to a sewing center and test drive some machines. Kind of like you do a car. You will get the feel of them and which ones you like! Good luck! :)

Welcome from SW MI. I was where you are a couple months ago, looking to upgrade my 30+ y/o mechanical machine. I was set on getting a Bernina, but when all was said and done I ended up with a Baby Lock. Good luck in your search and be sure to try out as many machines as you can before making a final decision.

Hello from Howell Michigan! My first machine was a Bernina...loved it! When it died after lots and lots of use I decided it was time or a upgrade. I wanted another Bernina but we don't have a dealer near here and I was tired of driving to get it cleaned,ect. I bought a janome 6600 from the local qs and love it! The sewing table that comes with it is great and I think the throat space is a little bigger. Test drive both brands a choose what's best for you!
