HI, I am new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself.
I consider myself a beginning quilter, although I learned to sew nine patch blocks from my grandmother 45 years ago (9YO) I have only really started quilting. Three quilts under my belt, all of them pretty easy projects, and a few block exchanges and I am loving every minute of it. I tend to like batiks, marbles and more contemporary fabrics but my block choices tend to be more traditional. I don't do handwork, preferring machine piecing and quilting. I am married (29yrs) to John and we have one son (Sawyer 12YO) and live in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. I live in a great area for quilters, we have 10 quilt shops in central Ohio, and two are just a few miles from my house. My favorite is half way between my house and my job. I am a nurse, I run a lab in a doctors office and counsel patients about their results. I am also a knitter, spinner, weaver, sew clothes and read a lot. Thanks for letting me join in the fun! Welcome from the Piedmont of North Carolina. Glad you have joined. Remember - we LOVE pictures. Sure with I had that many quilt shops close to me - although I stay broke as it is - that might be a little dangerous for my bank account :D :D :D

Welcome, Sue! Did you learn to spin and weave in Ohio? My husband (of almost 40 years) and I live in Hilliard. He had purchased an antique spinning wheel and yarn winder for me when we lived in the Atlanta area. We had the spinning wheel restored (don't know if it still works, after 3 moves . . . job related). Our 4 children all have settled in the NE with their spouses I worked as a legal assistant here in Ohio before retiring 2+ years' ago. I have never taken the time to learn to spin, thinking I would move forward and go back to school. However, I'm getting tired and seem to find less stress sewing for the grandchildren and quilting some, too. It's rewarding. Enjoy the group!

I learned through the Central Ohio Weavers Guild, we meet once a month, have a gathering of spinners about four times a year. We don't meet over the summer so no more meetings until next September. If you are really interested PM me, I can put you in touch with some folks who spin and would be willing to share..
