Back Again!

Hello all! My name is Tina and I am from Missouri. I was a member of this group years ago when life seemed a bit slower for me. I learned to piece when I broke my tailbone about 15 years ago. I have a desire to learn to quilt my tops, so I bought an embroidery machine. So far, I have only completed two table runners but only one turned out how I envisioned. : ) Maybe when retirement comes, I will spring for the long arm! I am looking forward to all the inspiration this group has to offer. Have a blessed day!

Welcome back! I've never used an embroidery machine but have been quilting my own quilts on a Juki 2200 QVP Mini (same as Juki TL 2010) for the last 5 years now. I'm very happy with the way my quilts have turned out. At only $1000 for the machine, I feel that it's a good option for me. Also, it doesn't need a lot of room like a longarm does.

Welcome back! Nothing wrong with appreciating the mojo of others when real life gets in the way of our quilting, or when we just go in a bit of a slump.

Hope you find the solutions you need for finalizing projects. I got a (used) long arm, about a year ago now but had some bad life stuff get in the way and it is still not put together -- but it will be eventually. Some of my tops have already waited years for finishing, a few more won't hurt.

Hello and Welcome back!

Welcome back and join the multitudes of quilters who do not use a long arm machine. I use my Pfaff Performance 5.2 for quilts that are twin sized or smaller, donation quilts, and other quilted projects. I only send double/queen size quilts out to a long armer because I struggle with the weight of these larger quilts.

I don't have an embroidery machine but I do hear that others do use them for quilting. You might want to post questions to the QB about tips for using your embroidery machine for quilting effectively. Folks will have tips for you I am sure.

I'm been thinking of getting an embroidery machine lately, too! Impressed that you want to quilt your own stuff. I won't attempt anything bigger than a wall hanging. :)
