Creative block newbie

I like sewing. Can't put my finger on why. Sometimes I can make something simple that I want but isn't in the store. But most times i can't envision all the steps between what I have in mind and physical representation. I want to make panels of important residents and homes in my life. My grandmother's house, the house I grew up in. My first house as an adult etc. I have what I think are creative ideas. I can't seem to bridge the gap between idea and execution/product.

You aren't alone in this. I have the same issue. If I could just get all those artistic ideas out of my head and into finished projects. I like your idea about representing the homes in your life but like you, would have no clue how to bring the idea to fruition.

You may want to take pictures and try to make a collage , or just a panel, slap them on any old way, then see what pops out for you and go from there.
Old graphic designer trick ;)

Good idea! You can also use pictures to make applique pieces.

How about printing your own photos? https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/prin...inters-2821354
How about this from Amazon? https://www.amazon.com/Lansing-Cotto.../dp/B0083JCTQI
Seriously....sometimes the best way to learn methods is to search for what you want your end result to be and then start learning. There is so much great info out there. Very thin sewable fusion products make it much more simple to do raw edge applique.
This search has wonderful ideas https://www.bing.com/search?q=design...AB01&PC=EDGEDB
