Well, I'm no longer a guest on this site and am happy to call myself a member. I've been reading your posts for quite a while and recognize many kindred spirits among you. (my husband, who belongs to a bowyer site, calls it lurking)
It almost feels like I'm misrepresenting myself to say I am a quilter, but the arrival of grandchildren inspired me to take the advice of a friend and start sewing quilts. She was a master quilter and taught me well, then moved on and left me with boxes of quilting magazines and enough love of the craft to continue without her. Since then I've made quilts for each of my grandchildren (4) and a wedding quilt for my son. All my piecing & quilting has been done by machine, but one day I hope to join the ranks of hand quilters as well. Since beginning to quilt, I have learned that my grandmother was a quilter, so I guess it's in my blood. Already you have taught me much, and I'm looking forward to learning and sharing with you. |

I didn't take pictures of my quilts, although at my son's wedding someone snapped shots of them opening the quilt gift. I don't know what the block pattern is because I designed it myself, but it's based on the irish chain. Now, let's see if these load okay.

What a beautiful quilt, it is so obvious how the bride and groom felt about it! How lucky they are. Yes, I lurked too for quite awhile but have found this site to be a great place to be. Hey there, welcome! I'm from BC too, just outside vancouver. Your quilt is absolutely gorgeous!!! Wow! :)
|
Hi to fellow BCers. I'm beyond Hope. Southerners say I live in the north, but if you put your finger on the center of a map of BC, you'll be close to my place. Find Francois Lake (easy because it's huge), my house is on the lake. The nearest quilt shop is an hour-and-a-half drive away and I consider this on-line group to be my guild. Enjoying the site!
|
Great to meet you! Oh, on a lake sounds awesome...yes, this is my guild too, love it here. Welcome! :)

|
Hello and Welcome :D :D :D Your son and daughter in law look very happy wrapped up in their quilt :D :D :D
|
BZing: I love the picture of your son and his wife wrapped up in your quilt...I always feel like a quilt is a fabric HUG that will provide warmth and comfort, remind the user of the love and caring the maker of the quilt put into the quilt and it will last forever ...in the receivers memory long after the quilt itself has disintegrated or worn out. I hope your son and his bride are always as happy as they are in these pictures and lastly, welcome to the site!
Your "HUG" is lovely and very creative. Love the colors and it looks like your workmanship is excellent. Thanks for sharing. |
Welcome Barbara!! I'm fairly new here and so far I love it! Glad you came out of lurkdom.
