if I can use the program off-line. I know you need to be on-line to download the program, but can you use the program if you are not hooked up to the internet. Just wondering if it would be worth getting a laptop to take with me on vacation so I can start planning future quilts. I know I won't have access to any internet.

Absolutely!!
Enjoy your vacation on the beach designing quilts!  |
Hello and Welcome to the board :D:D:D
You only need to be online to download fabrics from their site or others, or for a possible update, or to initially activate the program :D:D:D |
Thank you, that is what I wanted to hear. Vacation will be a lot more interesting now

You can use it offline, but EQ6 requires occasional connection to the internet to verify some registration requirement. If you haven't logged on to the internet with that laptop in the last 60 days, you can't use EQ6. Simple solution would be to log in to the internet and launch EQ6 just before you leave on vacation.

You might be thinking of EQ7, which has a very different activation/install policy. |
In the EQ7 manual there is some information about loading the disk onto a flash drive, and then to your laptop. I am not sure about EQ6. One thing to consider is how much memory and free space you would have on your laptop vs how much EQ would take. I would call their toll free number and ask.

Yes EQ6 can be used without internet. I know from personal experience that having you EQ (whatever version) on a laptop or any "dedicated" computer is a good idea because you won't have to wait to design when the mood strikes. Also, having it on a laptop that you can take with you to a class is great, especially when you need to re-size / re-design a project because you've made a cutting error. Ask me how I know that one. :-)

Greetings and welcome from central Minnesota

oops...thanks for the correction. I was thinking about Eq7...between software versions, firmware versions, and model numbers, I mixed up EQ6 with EQ7. Thanks again

Thanks to everyone. You are the best, that's why I asked the question here. And by the way, I am not new to the board but for some reason they PM'd me and said they moved my question to this section. A little confusing but as long as I get the answer I don't mind.
