I was just in my Wal-Mart-was going to purchase one of those pre-packaged fabric items - I was told by one of the clerks that we are getting fabric back at our store, cutting table, etc. I was so happy! I remember sending them emails when they were going to take fabric out of the stores; I cannot afford to go to the quilt shops. Hooray! They listened to us!

craftybear 06-15-2011 10:44 AM

that is great news, I had heard that eventually most of the Walmarts were bringing back fabric, cutting table etc.

Yipppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

The Walmart in my area is getting rid of their fabric. Or that is what the cashier said & the fabric is 50% off right now.

I am sooo glad that they are!!! Quilting is a very
expensive hobby and if we can get our material
at a better price that is a real plus!!!

I sure hope they bring it back to our walmart, i don't know why they ever took it out, i have a theory: Men run walmart, want bigger sports and electronic departments so they take out the fabric and craft department, really upset the womenfolk so they bite the bullet and bring it back...........has to be

kimscruzer 06-16-2011 07:14 AM

I went to one of my Walmarts and they had fabric. I stood around browsing for a very long time. Saw no one in area to ask questions, alot of the fabric had no prices on it. I almost thought they had it set up to cut on your own. I left without a thing.

Dodee 06-16-2011 07:22 AM

There was an article in USA Today about it. It isn't just fabric they are bringing back.

busygranny 06-16-2011 08:47 AM

Read on a stock market report that by Sept 2 or 7th, they will have fabric in 700 WalMart stores. Thank Goodness. They learned their lesson. I didn't go to walmart after fabric taken out, I usually was there to check something in fabric dept and thenoicked up what ever I needed in groc, dept etc. Once fabric left, I had no reason to go there. They lost alot from me because of them taking out fabric. Just hope that our WalMart is one of the 700.

Quiltbeagle 06-16-2011 08:59 AM

I read several articles that said the head honchos at Walmart took out a lot of products that they thought were a waste of shelf space, but wound up losing LOT of money because customers only went in the stores for those particular products (i.e fabric), and would purchase other things only since they were already in the store. I hope they bring fabric back to my Walmart, but am not too hopeful since they expanded the automotive and sporting departments into the former fabric and craft area and the men around here just love hunting and fiddling with their trucks.

From this screen, look up to the Quilting Board info is. Under MY PROFILE click that. Scroll down to LOCATION. That is where you put Ohio (in your case)

Welcome from So. CA. Can't believe it is misting rain here. We NEVER see moisture from the heavens at this time of year.

You'd be surprised at how many fixtures, tables, etc., they throw away! When I worked there, I suggested donating things to different organizations. No way! They said they can't give anything away. Very wasteful!! Did you see the email that told about this very, very large ship that brings WM freight to the USA & makes the trip back to China/Japan EMPTY! Sad isn't it?!

Patchworkmarion 06-16-2011 11:32 AM

G'day from Australia.

We have ours back as of this week in the very SE corner of Iowa. Not totally finished with the area but it is a start.

Hi from Fl. I was at Wal Mart today and asked the girl stocking shelves if they were going to get fabric back and she said all the stores will get it again however she didn't know when the fabric was coming in. So glad to hear that even tho one of ours never got rid of their dept just cut back on what they carried. Brought some pretty fabric blue with pink hibiscus flowers don't know what I'll do but it had to come home with me. Sue

I used to love shopping at Wal-Mart for my fabric. I too cannot afford to pay $9 and up for fabric. So I will welcome the fabric department back.

I was at our Wal Mart today. The signs said 50% off but when I went to have some cut it was 75% off. They are doing away with our's I am told. And our LQS just closed also. It was my favorite place to go.
