I don't know your answer but welcome - maybe I can help on the next question!

Hello, and welcome from Idaho. I really just play with my tension on a sample until they look the way I want them to be.

Welcome from NC! I would go by trial and error but googling the manual sounds good.

If you have loops on the back I would try to go smaller ... it's also possible that your upper thread is not treaded correctly.

Hello and welcome from Germany!

Start with some scrap material first. Rethread the machine. Adjust your tensions, start with the upper, then the lower, sew a couple of inches each time you make a change. Write down what the tensions were set at. Eventually, you will get to a top one that looks good, then a bottom and then you can just combine the numbers you wrote down together for your perfect stitch .... until you change fabric, thread, needles or sometimes it seems all it takes is a sneeze to throw everything off again. Good Luck!
Welcome from Michigan!
Happy Holidays!
