Hi everyone! I am new to the quilting board and quilting. Just happened upon it Wednesday and was thrilled to see so much information in one site.
My question: if a fat quarter measures 18"x20", which direction do I cut long strips from? I was reading from a quilting book but it didn't go into any detail as to cutting. Is the 20" side from 1/2 a width of fabric? I'm confused!!! Any help will be appreciated. Dae |
Hello and Welcome from Northern Indiana ! Glad you joined us
Are you following a pattern- usually it will tell you what side to cut - if not does it say how long you need the strips ? |
Welcome to the board from Southern California!
The patterns that I have that called for that kind of cut is from the 20-22" side, not the 18" one. That cut would be selvedge to selvedge in a whole width piece. |
Hello and Welcome to the board :D:D:D

Welcome from Michigan.

Hi! Thank you for your response. I looked at the pattern again and it really doesn't say which side to cut from. I just figured I would do the 20" side because it was longer. Maybe I need to look for another pattern to start with.

Wow, clear from Germany! So how many years have you been quilting? I'm assuming you are an expert!!!
