G'day,

My name is Laura but you can call me Lozza. I live in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.

I am only an amateur quilter, but have the bug and I love it. It is my stress relief. However, I work every morning and night and am currently studying nursing at university full-time. This means that my time that I have to quilt is very limited. I work on it every chance I can get.

When I was younger, I attended a quilting guild with my mother occasionally. I loved chatting with the ladies whilst stitching. They are great memories.

I also love gardening and have a huge interest for flowers and love photographing and learning as much as I can about them. This interest also overlaps into my quilting projects as I generally incorporate flowers of some sort into them. I also love working with pinks and greens.

I look forward to getting to know you better and checking out all your wonderful projects.

Welcome!
I just found Toowoomba on the map. Wasn't actually looking for it, I was on the map of Australia trying to figure out HOW to take the train from Alice Springs to Perth.

Anyway...welcome and have fun like I am!

Welcome to the Quilting Board Lozza! My sister & brother-in-law recently moved back to California from Queensland (Macleay Island). I think we may have at least driven thru' Toowoomba when I was there on holiday! What a lovely place to be if you've a love for flowers :D
It sounds like you have a full plate, working and going to school for nursing. Be sure to take a little time for quilting now & again. And we'd love to see some of your work too!
You might also like to check out the University of British Columbia's Botanical Garden website - I subscribe to their "Botany Photo of the Day". They're usually lovely, sometimes creepy, but always have lots of info - http://www.ubcbotanicalgarden.org/potd/ . Best of all, it's free! lol

tlrnhi-if you need any info on the train to Perth let me know and i will see what i can find out for you. I have been to Ayers Rock but not Alice Springs and we hired a campervan and that was a fun way to go .We drove from Adelaide and it was good because you could stop whenever you wanted to.
The drive from South Australia(Adelaide) to Perth is a good 27 hours or so and that is non stop and only stopping for fuel and toilet breaks..wouldnt recommend that!! It depends on how much time you have as Australia is a big, beautiful country!

Welcome Lozza, hope you enjoy this site as much as I do. It is great to have such a wonderful site to see what everyone is doing & share what you are doing. You are going to be one busy girl!! My daughter just finished nursing school & graduated Dec. `07. She is in the process of interviewing for jobs & taking her state board nursing test on March 31st. She has a 2nd interview this evening at a very nice hospital in Vancouver, WA. The 2nd interview is with the nurses that she would be working with if she gets the job. I think that's kind of neat that they allow the nurses that she would be working with to have that kind of input. :D Anyway...hope you'll be able to find a little time to quilt inbetween studying!! :D :D
