Gippsland (Australia) sort of newbie
 

Hi, I joined a while ago but only read threads for some time - shyness I think. The info you share has been brilliant and you are all so friendly so I thought it was time to join in more. I've been quilting since 1976, when I found an American book and taught myself using furnishing and dress fabrics and guesswork. That first quilt has long since frayed and gone to heaven. I could never have imagined the distance quilting has come since - the fabrics, the machine quilting, the techniques and clever notions. Wow! I still love it tho I'm not very good. I really enjoy my quilt group - quilters are good people. :p

Glad you decided to join in. I too just read for a long time. Didn't even join for maybe 5 or 6 years. Don't know very much about quilting still. Just reading all the topics here made me feeling more confident. Can't give much advice but can appriciate all the beautiful work done and shown here. And of course welcome newbies here too. So welcome from NW Louisiana.

Thanks so much for making me feel welcome, everyone. it's a geography lesson, getting pictures in my head of quilters in all the different parts of the US, Canada, my own Australia etc taking time out to say hello. I'll certainly begin posting responses to others' posts, now. (hopefully when I've got something to say, not just blathering):D PS it's autumn here after a hot spell and we have mice in the ceiling - yech! Better than bushfires, at any rate.
