Great beginner!!

Hailing from the Kentucky Lakes area, I don't know where my experience is. I have been quilting for a long time, but I wasn't serious and really enjoying it until the last few years. ;) The quilt room downstairs is my sanctuary. I feel like I am improving but also feel so far behind my friends that I put a little stress on myself when I shouldn't be. Anyway I love it and my grandmother would be proud!!

Welcome from Texas. I'm so glad you have moved to "serious" about quilting. You will find this board to be very friendly, helpful & fun. Quilting is something you develop at your own pace. Don't compare yourself to your friends as everyone advances differently. The important thing is that you have fun & enjoy what you are doing without the stress of having to compete with others. A quilter may never moved past the beginner stage but if she/he is loving what they are doing that's perfectly o.k. Some quilters get to very advanced/professionals and are so stressed about perfection that they can't enjoy the love of quilting. How wonderful to have had the inspiration from your grandmother.
Oh, and don't forget....we love pictures! Show us your quilts.

Welcome from Tennessee. As Osewme said just have fun with it. Is is a hobby not a job. What good is a hobby if you don't enjoy it? You will always find someone doing better work than you. Be proud of what great works of art you create. Don't forget to post pics here

Unfortunately, too many of us want to compare ourselves to the experts. But which experts are seeing our quilts? Most of the time just our family and friends with whom we share the quilts. And they aren't looking for perfection!

Welcome from Southern California! My quilts are for family and friends (an me too). As long as you are having fun - then you are doing great work and that is what is important. I love to look at, touch, and work with fabric. So far everyone I have given a quilt to knows it is from my heart to theirs.
