Welcome from E. Central Illinois. I remember having to take a year of Home Ec in junior high also. I'd been cooking and sewing for years---it was so boring to make an elastic waist skirt and cook everything from "magic mix" base. I was used to sewing full outfits even coats and could put a full meal on the table by 12 yrs old but Home Ec was a requirement.
