Hi!
My husband and I are spending two weeks in Ireland in October. We will start in Shannon and end in Dublin. We will be driving ourselves. Are there any great quilt shops to visit?\

Hi Sbellman,
I think you'll be soooo disappointed if you plan your holiday around a visit to an Irish quilt shop!!! Fabric is about twice the price of the independent quilt shops and the range of fabrics is miserly. It's a wonderful country with great scenery and friendly people, but spend your fabric budget at home, it'll stretch much further!! I was in the US on holiday this summer and filled 3 suitcases with fabric to bring home.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday. October is a lovely month here, even though the evenings are getting shorter, and I hope you really enjoy yourself.

Hi Mel!

And welcome! You'll enjoy it here! I retired from teaching this June and I am loving my quilting time now!

My mother-in-law's family originated from County Wexford. And my father in law's came from County Claire. But that was a little before your time! My husband is the 11th generation of O'Briens on the Southern Shore of Newfoundland. AND believe me they are IRISH! Their music, accent, traditions... more Irish than half of Ireland is today!

Hi Mel, well I must have missed you cause I live here. Now where did you visit in sunny Spain.

Yes girls the fabric here (when you can find a shop) is 14€ a metre and it is expensive. No we donīt have any cotton fields here, wish we did.

Anyway, Welcome Mel, bienvenido mi amiga.
