Hand stitching iron on applique

Hi all, I’m finding it increasingly difficult to sit at my machine to machine blanket stitch my iron on applique. Has anyone successfully hand stitched iron on applique or does the glue make it impossible? My best and most productive days are behind me now but I still need to have some hand sewing.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. It depends on what you used to fuse the appliqués. Wonderunder or the lighter fusibleS you should be able to hand stitch through with a sharp needle. If you used regular Heat and Bond ( which is not recommended even for machine appliqué) it would be difficult.

Welcome to the QB from SE Michigan! I always use a light weight fusible and then hand stitch my appliques. I don't think I have ever machine blanket stitched " successfully". I tried in the early days and did not have the coordination to be very successful. Have fun and just go for it! Again welcome to the QB and jump right in and have some fun.

Thanks, I’ll do that.

Thanks so much. Yes machine blanket stitch is fine on straight lines but a bit of a pain on curves and corners. I prefer hand stitching and quilting.

Thanks again from Wales🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Thank you. I’ll have a look for lightweight. I’ve always used Bondaweb.
