HI,
I am new here, but not necessarily new to quilting. I am about to put my next quilt in the frame and am wondering if anyone has ever used blanket stitches to quilt all the way through a quilt, not just embelish a crazy quilt. And, If you think it might work, would you use floss or quilting thread. thanks, Kerrie |
i quilted my wool quilt with blanket stiches- i used perle cotton.
if you like the look of course you can- and you can also use what ever thread fits your project...be it embroidery floss- silk thread- wool thread===regular quilting thread- it is your choice. |

I love blanket stitching and usually use it on 30's fabrics so they look like my grandma's quilts (she used only black)....but if I were going to use it for quilting, embroidery floss might not hold up too well and quilting thread sounds too fine...I like the suggestion of perle cotton. I'd probably use a contrasting color (or colors) to show off the stitching.

Welcome to a great group! I love the way our quilting communtiy shares. I too do quilting with perle cotton due to bad eye sight. I love the many different ways you can use perle cotton. Currently I am working on BOM "By Wisdom a House is Built" by Indygo Junction. A friend said it was more expensive to use PC than embroidery floss, but I am not so sure about that. I am just enjoying myself now that I have found larger folk style items to work on.
