Hi: Do ANY quilters' out there have control over their fabric buying????

Jammin' Jane 08-02-2011 09:31 PM

I'm pretty weak when I see fabric I like. I kick myself later for not getting it when I see it! So lately, I've just been getting what I like...and that's a lot!!
Nope, I'm outa control!!!! But I'm building a great stash!

I tell myself "No more material!"; yet when I go to WalMart for groceries, I head for the fabric section. Now mind you I have a very small sewing room for storing my stash yet I usually bring home at least one piece.

Told my husband to help me and throw away Joann's flyers...He asked "DO I LOOK CRAZY"....I've been good the last two times I went I came home with no fabric...But the last two wks I must confess I bought fabric on this site...allot...Don't tell Hubby...

I'm doing pretty good at the moment. My bank account says - no more!
Plus our Walmart is expanding the fabric dept in Sept so I'm waiting. In the mean time I sorting through what I have to use or sell to make room for ....... more ;(

Hi! Our Wal Mart discontinued the fabric section several years ago and lost many, many customers- soooo, the farbic department is coming back!! I get some fabric at JoAnn's, but I buy most of my fabric at a phenominal quilt shop about 30 miles from me. WORTH THE TRIP! The owner moves fabric FAST, she carries fine quality fabrics and has a 'no pressure policy'. She will go to the bargain section to help witth selections before going to regular priced goods. She also carries patterns, books, kits, etc. I live in a (2) bedroom apartment and it is overrun with fabric - but it is all organized ( thank goodness!). Chris Thanks for replying.

Control???? Do we want Control?????
Fabric calls my name. I find it extremely difficult to walk into a quilt shop without buying something!!!

alikat110 08-03-2011 08:13 PM

I'm trying. Started a fabric diet, aug to nov.....very little willpower....have gone 3 days without buying fabric.....having severe withdrawals. Thank God for chocolate!

JulieR 08-04-2011 05:52 PM

Hello from north central Maryland!

And no. There are two kinds of quilters: one kind can't stop buying fabric, and the other can't stop lying about how much fabric they've bought.

Cheers!
