Happy to be quilting again!

Hi all! I'm glad to join this active group of quilters! I quilted a lot in my 20s and 30s, but health, a damaged thumb and a very busy life got in the way, and I put away my quilting books, my fabrics and tools until just recently. Now I'm in my 60s, still busy but not so much, and I pulled out all the quilting stuff just recently. Although not a beginner, I'm not one of the better quilters out there. I have completed quite a few wallhangings, small quilts, and lots of quiltwear a la Virginia Avery and Jean Ray Laury. I love applique as it is a little more forgiving. Who's to know if that butterfly wing was meant to dimple in like that or not? :-)

I'm looking forward to browsing my way through the forums, especially the Photos section. Thanks for this delightful opportunity to hang out with a bunch of people who know the difference between "the cruddy scissors" and "the fabric scissors."

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. The board is a little messed up right now but it is a great place and hopefully will be back to normal soon.

Glad to have you join us. We were talking in my small group yesterday about how nice it is at this point in our lives that we have sewing rooms/stations set up and have the time and opportunity to work on our arts.

I like to have something to work on, and one thing I can say -- with all the wonderful things folks are doing here I never run out of ideas any more.

Well jump right in and join the fun! I have been quilting for abut 30 years. Some 'not so minor' physical difficulties have made it a challenge in some of the more artistic aspirations. I consider myself an intermediately skilled quilter. I am open to new things and being here is one of the ways I have found to increase my skills. Ttis board gives you the opportunity to spread your wings and try many new things and get the encouragement you need to keep moving forward. I for one can easily say my skills have increased with the help of people here. So jump in and swim. There is always someone here that can answer a question or help you muddle through a place that challenges you. Then of course share your finished quilts with us. We love to 'feel' you finished quilts.
