I have been following your chats for the last week or so. I enjoyed them tremendously, so figured I'd crash the party...I am from Deer Park ,TX (just outside of Houston). I am a self-taught quilter and can't imagine not quilting! Just waiting to retire(someday!) so I can spend more time at the machine! The stash fills the entire closet of my sewing room and has started to ooze into other rooms. The dogs, 3 of them, all love it when I quilt. Love to chase through the folds...makes for some interesting patterns sometimes
Have to ask...what is your favorite holiday tradition?

Hi and welcome from Australia.

With Christmas coming up I would have to say drinking eggnog. Is this just an Aussie thing?

Howdy from another Texan. I'm from Ft. Worth and a newbee to quilting. I too work and can't wait to retire so I can quilt more. I also have a little granddaughter who needs boutique clothes (or I should say her mama-my daughter - thinks she does) so I have to split my time between the two but I love both so - it's ok - just slower on both. Can't wait to see some of your work.
Blessings,

You're gonna laugh but now that the kids are grown... we're off to Christmas morning Mass and then home to the hot tub! Gets us prepared for the family's arrival in the later afternoon. The colder the weather, the better and if it's snowing, then it's nirvana.
And hello and welcome to this site. You're gonna love the quilter's here.

Nope, drinking eggnog is not just an Aussie thing but a Canuck thing too. Except we don't get to drink it in our bathing suits.

Hi and welcome from MA.

Boston1954 11-29-2009 11:59 AM

Welcome. You WILL love it here.

My favorite tradition for the upcoming holiday is chinese food and watching Bing Crosby in "Holiday Inn".

Welcome. This is a great board. You will surely like it here. I like everything about Christmas except taking down the tree.

kasmitty1 11-30-2009 05:29 AM

Another self-taught quilter here, too. My favorite Holiday tradition is getting up early, turning on the Christmas tree, and sitting for a half hour every morning just watching it in peace, before the chaos of the day begins. I only get to do that for a couple of weeks out of the year, and I cherish it.

I am trying to find the message with the picture of a quilted ball ornament. Can anyone tell me where it is on here. I say it yesterday, Dec 12, 09 but can't find it today. I would like to look at it again. Thanks P.J.

Jingle 12-15-2009 02:23 PM

Welcome from outside St. Louis !!!!!

fatcat 12-15-2009 04:18 PM

:) If you are talking about my dog, she is a Toy Fox Terrier. My husband bought her for me 5 years ago this coming Feb. for Valentines day. She was 5 in November of 09. She is my companion and watch dog now. My husband passed away in March of this year. I am so glad he got her for me when he did. She is a good little dog. Her name is Mollie.
