Hello from Austin

I've been lurking around for a couple of months now and finally decided to say hi as I just finished my first quilt. I just really starting sewing like a I mean it back in October. I've had my little Bernina 1008 for about 12 years and would sew something small that met an immediate need maybe once a year. I randomly thought about quilting and that I might like it but I had too many other things going on.

A few months ago, I got my machine back out and just decided to go for it and have been sewing like crazy ever since. I think I might well and truly be addicted. I had to take my machine in for service this weekend as the feed dogs are not dropping. I've been sewing pretty much every day for the last couple of months and all of sudden not having my machine here is making my fingers itch like mad.

My poor dog is getting really tired of extra training sessions as I try to deal with not having my machine around.

This is my first quilt.

Welcome from Central California. Your first quilt looks great! This is the place to be for all quilting; there are so many talented people here who are always willing to help each other.

I, too, lurked for a long time before I finally signed on. You will love this site with all the beautiful quilts and great ideas passed on by others. I seldom comment, but I read just about daily. By the way, welcome from the beautiful mountains of western NC.

Welcome from Eastern Washington! Maybe you need more than one sewing machine - I have 10, plus two sergers! Of course they don't all work...

Poor little puppy! I prescribe a second sewing machine so that your sewing itch can always be scratched.

The quilt is gorgeous!

Thank you so much for all the welcomes! I love hearing where everyone is from. Another sewing machine is in the works but I feel like I need to prove the long-term health of the addiction to myself before it happens.

Welcome from Oklahoma. I sometimes think about what would happen if my machine "got sick". Luckily, I have 6 tops pinned for hand quilting.

Wow! That is beautiful, first quilt or fortieth! I'm from Cedar Park and have just joined as well. I've been quilting a lot longer than you, but still love strikingly simple designs like yours. Strong work!!
