I am just getting serious about quilting. I took a class at Jo-Ann's, but didn't get the cutting down right, and ruined some really pretty fabric. I have signed up for another class somewhere else. I have been looking on the tutorial and now I can see how to do it.

I used to be an avid crocheter, but arthritis won't allow me to crochet any longer.

I am looking forward to happy quilting!!!

thank you for your welcome. I appreciate it. I have been browsing a shop in Estes Park, Colorado that sells the most beautiful, hand pieced Amish quilts.

Hi Ida! Welcome from snowy Philadelphia area! Amish quilts are beautiful aren't they! In Lancaster county, PA you can go into a real Amish home where they have their quilts for sale. The home I went to had bedsize quilts laying out on a bed and layered on top of each other. They were all hand quilted of course, but there were so many of them! It was really amazing! I'm not good at describing it. Happy quilting to you.

Thanks for your welcome. I think it would be wonderful to see them in their setting! The shop I have visited sells them for more than I can afford! Some are over $1,000.00.

Welcome also, from the state of Washington!! :D

And another welcome from a Coloradoan. I'm in the Lakewood area. There's a great little quilt shop here in Lakewood that offers quilt classes. The instructor is wonderful and very thorough. The expense of the 12 week class is very worth it.

Hi,

I an in Denver near DIA. What quilt shop would you be referring to that gives great classes. I am willing to travel for good quilting sisterhood. Thank you for writing. ;-)

I am referring to Wild nWooly in Greeley. Right now the lady who teaches the classes is apparently ill. They have my email address and will contact me when she is ready to teach again.

When we lived in the Denver area a few years ago, there was a great quilt shop on East Hampden, around I believe it was Tamarac. Don't know if it is still there or not, or even if they give quilting classes. It was sure a great shop though. My mother-in-law would always have me take her there when she came to town.

Hope I spelled the shop in Greeley correctly.

Nonna Judi 02-18-2010 07:21 PM

I believe you are referring to Great American Quilt Factory. It is a wonderful shop. I have shopped there many times but have never taken a class there.

Ida 02-19-2010 10:16 AM

The next time I'm in Denver, I plan on going there again! I live almost to the Wyoming state line now, so don't get to Denver that often. (Grew up there though.)

Greetings and welcome from California. We've all had our disappointments regarding loss of fabric due to operator error. You can probably use the scrapes to make smaller pieces. All is not lost.
