I'm new to this board and am in need of patterns for quilts with outside seams. Want to make a throw for a guy.

Welcome from a fellow Colorado quilter. What part of Colorado?

I have made a few rag quilts. They are pretty easy. Flannel works really well. I found that the scissors you use to cut the fringe makes a HUGE difference in whether or not you end up with blisters or not. First time, I had large blisters, so I went out and bought a new pair of fiskar scissors that had a spring in the center and straight handles. They made the job easy.
