Hi my name is Anna I'm finally ready to jump back into quilting its been a long time about 8 years but now I have a lot of time on my hands since my accident and I am getting really board with the computer need to see something real out of using my hands. Only problem is I don't have a quilt frame so I would ap prediate it if someone could post a basic patern for one on here since I can't work I need something inexpensive to build. My friend is very handy so he could use scrap lumber to construct it just need a plan for him to get started.

Thanks

Hello and welcome from Ontario. I know that there very basic handquilting frames are made from 4 2X4's and some clamps, but there are lots of others people have made too. Good luck finding a plan for yours.

Here is a link for a picture for a frame. I thought I had them on my computer, but only could find them on photobucket. If you click on the picks they will get bigger. Sorry, I don't have the measurements off the top of my head, but the pattern is laying on my cutting mat and that should give you an idea. These are just the 4 corners needed to hold the 1x4 inch boards that forms the square the quilt it tacked to. Don't cut the notches in the top where the square rests until you get the boards so they will fit snug.

Also, if using one of these frames it is a good idea to use the quick grip clamps. The ones you just have to squeeze the handle and they tighten up. Lots quicker.

Or you could find a PVC pipe frame at a estate/garage sale for $5 like I did.

Good luck!

PS, I grew up not far from Darien Lake and went to the amusement park several times. Welcome from an old New Yorker!
