Hello everyone, new here!

Hello all! I'm new here but not new to sewing but new to vintage machines. I've been sewing for about 60 years and recently was able to fine a machine, the model I learned on back in the early sixties. And that's started me down a rabbit hole. So now I have 2 60's era Singers, an older, 99k coming to me, a 70's era Genie and just this weekend, a Domestic rotary model 153.

I would love to find out the age of the Domestic but have had no luck so far. While the machine works, it has been at least 25 years since she was used. I would also love to be able to service all the vintage machines.

Any hints of where I might look would be greatly appreciated. I seem to be really lame at the search function :)

Thank you !

Maria

ISMACS has some good info about Domestic machines http://ismacs.net/domestic/home.html

Thank you! Should I list my machines in the signature?

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. No need to list your machines but you may want to ask any questions in the vintage and antique machine section of QB

Welcome from sunny Florida. We have a special forum for quilters who use antique machines and I'm sure they can give you all kinds of information. Good luck.

Welcome to the QB. I too have a number of vintage machines here. I try to use them all at different times. I have a Singer 99 and several singer machines from the 60's, 50's and 2 Featherweights (FW) from the 40's and late 30's. I have several antique machines too. There are many helpful people in the Vintage and Antique forum here. Try them out for lots of great information. Jump right in and join the fun. Be prepared to learn a whole bunch of things.

I've had 3 FW, the first was stolen in an apartment robbery, the second I figured I'd never get to refurbing so I sold it but I missed it so I recently bought yet another! It's an addiction, I recognize that now! 😬

Thanks Julia, there doesn't seem to be a lot of info on the rotaries but I'm realizing, the more I watch videos, that it's kind of a logical thing. Being a rank newbie and afraid of hurting anything, it seems confusing. But I'm giving it time, I don't have time to delve into the machine itself right now as I have promised projects I must do first.

I appreciate everyone's it's bits, thank you!
