I started quilting when my kids wouldn't wear homemade clothes anymore! Now I make my grandkids quilts. I quilt mostly in the winter. In the summer I kayak and garden, and go to yard sales. I like to create my own designs rather than use other people's ideas. I usually start by picking out some fabrics from my stash, and then choose a basic block design that suits my choices. I machine piece and usually hand quilt. I have an antique quilt frame friends from Pennsylvania gave me with hand carved ratcheting ends that lock the rollers in place. I really like carrying on a tradition like quilting, and creating something beautiful and useful.
