Hi there! Just found this great Quilting Board! WOW! It will take me weeks to read all these great and interesting topics - I hope I still find time to quilt :D

Right now I am trying to use up my scraps in scrap quilts - but somehow the scraps are not getting less :?: But its fun! I love how some scraps remind me of the quilts, for whom I made it and so on... also made some pillow for my kids -

Welcome to the board From Southern California. I thinks scraps have a way of secretly reproducing.

Hi Sabine

I lived in Germany 1981-84 and there wasn't much quilting going on then. It was hard to find quilting cottons too. It's funny how quilting scraps seem to multiple instead of getting used up. Good luck with your scrap quilts!

Hello from Wisconsin USA! I also love scrap quilting. I've been trying to do the same. Potholders, table runners, table toppers, makeup bags, eyeglass cases and whatever else I can think up. Best of luck to you as you scrap it up! If you're looking for more block patterns try one of my favorite free web sites http://quiltbus.com/Free-Quilt-Blocks.htm. Have fun!

Hi Sabine,

Hello again!

thank you for the very warm and friendly welcome :-)

I live close to Stuttgart and yes, finding good quality quilting fabric is not that easy. But most quilt shops carry them now, but they are imported and VERY expensive. So I do buy also directly from Hancocks etc. And sometimes I get lucky and it passes the customs without fees - that makes my day!!!

@ MadQuilter:
where were you transplanted from? :-)

Hugs,
Sabine

Welcome from Texas. I am fairly new to this site and am still trying to figure things out.
I am a transplant from Frankkfurt/Sachsenhausen. Years ago I rode my bicycle from Frankfurt to Stuttgart, stayed in a youth hostel, then continued on to Bregenz. It was fun then, I would never do it again.

Hello and welcome from Missouri, in the middle of the US.
I was just pulling my scraps together and I was amazed at the amount of scraps that have amassed, and I still don't have them all in one place!

I live in Phoenix, AZ and recently joined your site.
Been married for 26 years and have 2 boys: a 22 year old & currently a Marine in CA, and the 16 year old is a jr in high school. My husband works full time.

I have a Sears Kenmore machine that I have had since high school, and I use it regularly. Will be finishing more of my projects and listing them on Ebay for sale. I was raised in Maryland, and have lived in Phx for 33 years now. Looking forward to reading all your comments and things I can learn like quilting, making chenille and using decorative stitches. from, Deborah2009

Welcome from the State of Minnesota, City of St. Paul. If you can get fabric from Hancock's, how about JoAnn Fabrics. They have great stuff.
