Hello from the humid north!

Hello all,

New quilter from the Montréal area of Québec, Canada (will be one year this Christmas), though I have been sewing since I was 7.

My grandmother taught me the basics when I was young and I learnt more on my own as I went.

I mostly was sewing Halloween and Cosplay costumes, up until about two years ago when I decided to try my hand at making one of a kind travel bags and other fun things to try and make a few extra dollars (hoping that it would take off and I could quit my job).

Business hasn't really taken off, though I don't really have a lot of time to dedicate to that front just yet.

The quilting bug got me last year when my brother-in-law and his wife announced that they were expecting their first little one. I don't honestly know why I decided on making a quilt, but I thought it was something that I had never tried before and figured a relatively easy pattern wouldn't be too difficult. Well, it has not even been a complete circuit around the sun and I have made 6 quilts (ranging from a 34" square to 50" square and every shape and size in between) and have another four in the works (a throw, a double and two king sizes).

Hoping that I can get answers to some of my questions (the ones that YouTube and the rest of the internet haven't yet been able to solve) and possibly to make new quilty friends along the way!

Yeah, I'm not the only quilter from Montreal anymore (well, in Longueuil, more precisely, but we are close enough). Welcome on this board. I learn about everything I know from here. It's a wonderful forum.

I'm in Longueuil too!! Hey, do you know any longarmers or quilting shops that rent time or offer classes on longarm machines? I'm looking to get into it, but don't reaaly want to go in completely blind without ever having used a longarm machine...
