Hello from Kentucky

Hello all, my name is Katie and I am new person to any type of sewing. I really am very interested in learning how to sew clothes and handbags, but also wanting to do embroidery. I have two question, first I am looking for a good first embroidery machine so does anyone havae any suggestions? Also I do have a regular sewing machine, so what is the best way for me to learn how to sew clothes?...

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. I don't have any experience with embroidery machines but if you post how much you can afford to pay for one, someone may be able to tell you which machines will fit in your price range. For sewing clothes, I started with the simple sew patterns in fabrics recommended on the pattern back. After some success with pull on shorts and simple child's romper set, I was ready to try something a little more difficult.

Welcome from central Florida. You could check to see if there is a local chapter of the American Sewing Guild in your area. I made a lot of friends and I also learned alot about sewing from the other members. You can take your boo-boos to the meeting and invariably someone will have a way to correct it and save the garment. Other than that you could check and see if any of your local fabric stores have classes. Those helped me a lot when I lived in S. Fla.
