Hi Dot, I'm your neighbor in Texas, welcome to the forum, I think you'll feel right at home here, grab a cup of coffee and read through the posts I think we've covered a lot of subjects you can learn from, we all do. Enjoy yourself

Hi Dot,
Not everyone has been quilting for years. Me only 6. I have given all my quilts away. I do landscapes and trad quilting too. You can get help from so many sites here on the web. Everyone is so delighted to help always. Just ask. You can ask me anything and I will help you if I can and if I can't well.....I will find out and get back to you. God bless you and keep quilting :) Lin

Was the fag quilt hard to do?Phyllis

No, There a couple of ways to do it. The way I choose to do this one, I just finished . I just sewed my sq's together, then sandwhiched my batting and backing. I tyed it at each corner sq, and in the center of each sq. Then spent a couple of evenings sniping, (really 4 nights snipping) and I have washed 3x's ,So it fuzzed up real nice, or rather ragged up real nice. Easy and very durable. I used flannel on this one, My top is flannel sqs. Very simple sq patch, nothing fancy or ornate, But warm, comfy, and country. I'm pleased.

I did a rag quilt where you cut your top and backing squares and then sewed all together at the same time. Then you clipped all the seams and washed. I did mine in flannels and it turned out really neat. The lady I gave it to LOVED it!! It was very easy to do except the clipping on all those seams...wow was my hand sore!! LOL

Thanks ladies. How many and what size sq's do I need? Can't wait to go shopping so I can get started. This is the first time I have been to a chat space.

Phyllis, I will try to find my pattern for the one I did and send you the website. It was a free pattern I found online. I think the squares were 6 1/2" and the you sewed with a 3/4" seam.
