Hello from London

Hi,
I am a self-taught hand quilter from London. I have recently finished my first project (attached) which has taken me about 3 years but I have realised I am now missing it and want to do more! I have realised that I have a lot to learn as I think I concentrated more on the piecing than quilting and there are things I would change about this one but it was a learning curve. I can embroider etc well but am looking for inspiration and ideas/tips to improve my hand sewing and for a more unusual design next. |

Hello and welcome from Mississippi! What a pretty quilt... I found that my hand quilting got better looking when I got rid of the hoop! Now I hand quilt without any frame or hoop at all.
|
Thanks to you both! I didn't use a hoop or frame which may have been part of the problem. The piecing took a very long time as I used card hexagons and I think I probably 'oversewed' everything.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. I admire anyone who hand pieces or hand quilts. There are many lovely patterns that now combine Red Work embroidery and piecing.

Very nice.....I love grandmothers flower gardens. Such pretty flowers.

Welcome from New Jersey. I'm a self-taught hand quilter as well. I normally machine piece but have hand pieced a few quilts as well. Those are certainly labors of love. Yours is beautiful.
