Wow...Lot's of Michiganians here! I live in Pontiac, but my quilting supplies are in Saginaw. My niece had to move there for a job and I'm staying with her until she adjusts. I was tempted to start a second quilt, but thought that was a little much for a beginner. I could make new templates but I don't even know what sizes I'm using  . I just found templates in a book and started using them (duh).
I'll be glad when I can bring them home. |

Odessa Quilts, you are truly a neighbor! I took your advice and started looking for another pattern. I think I've settled on the Log Cabin. I would like to hand piece the whole quilt. I don't know what you call it but I'm going to try to make the squares with the batting & backing all done at once (if that makes sense). I was ready to give it a 'whirl' then remembered that I didn't buy any material for backing, or thread.
Tomorrow is another day... |

Tomorrow is another day... I believe the technique you mentioned is called "quilt-as-you-go", at least that's what I've always called it. Do you have a favorite shop in the area? If not, and you're feeling adventurous, come to downtown Bay City and visit the Fabric Fair on 5th Street. They're excellent and oh-so-helpful. I know several of the employees and they're wonderful. They'll take really good care of you. Make sure to post photos of your work in progress and post it for us to see. We LOVE to drool over other people's work. |
