I've been looking for about a month and thought I would introduce myself today. I have been sewing for 47 years and made my first quilt in 1978. I work two jobs, one which is teaching quilting and sewing at a local shop. I also make samples for the store. I work at the school library and enjoy this also. I really enjoy reading all the post and spend about an hour everynight just browsing.
I have two sons, both married, one lives in Indiana and the other in China. One step-son who lives with us, and a step-daughter who is married and doesn't live far, so we get to see our 2 year old grandson often.

Hi there! I live in Tipton, just up the road from you! Last summer I was involved with the farmer's market at Walker's Tavern. I have been to MIS several times. Have you ever been?

Which shop do you work at?

I work at Country Stitches in Jackson. I use to go to MIS all the time with the Boy Scouts. We had the job of cleaning the main grand stand until it got too big. I drive through Tipton everytime I go to the quilt store in Tecumseh.

I've driven by that shop a hundred times, but never stopped. Going to Ypsi in a couple weeks, maybe that will be my chance! What are the Saturday hours?

Hi and welcome from Tennessee

belladawn 08-01-2010 04:30 PM

I go to The Quilt Patch in Tecumseh all the time but I've never been to The Country Stitches. Do you belong to the Jackson Quilt Guild? I've been to one meeting but I work in Ann Arbor until 5:30 so it's hard to get to their meetings which start at 6:30. The Quilt Patch holds a UFO weekend every month (un finished objects) that I attend pretty regularly. About twenty women or so get together, bring our sewing machines, all our sewing supplies and a project. We also each bring a dish to pass and spend the whole day sewing, laughing, talking and sharing ideas. It's a great time. Oh, and of course, we shop at the store. :-)

Saturday hours are 10-5. I teach most Saturdays.

I'm headed to a picnic in Ypsi, so I would need to stop early as will be closed on the way home. Will see if we get on the road early enough. Do I get to the shop by taking the exit past it and coming back? Thanks

You can get to the store from either exit. Boardman Rd which the store is on is the service road and it runs between both exits.

Gmaybee: Thanks for the info. Never could tell as we zoomed past. Will probably need to bribe DH to get him to stop. ;)

I don't belong to the guild in Jackson, but have gone a few trips with them. . I will have to check out the UFO weekend at The Quilt Patch and come, as I have a few UFOs. I get their e-mail news letter or I'll give the store a call.

No, it's the 14th. Small chance it could be cancelled as BFF's husband was just dx w/ esophageal CA. Not sure when his treatment will begin. If you are of a mind, please remember him in your prayers. His name is Ron. They just lost a son to pancreatic CA this spring. Thanks!
