I have enjoyed reading the posts for about a month, wanted to get involved, probably mostly with questions as have been quilting several years but haven't gotten too in depth yet. Appreciate the advice, info and passion I have gleaned thus far.[quote]

Hi, I'm Karen and I'm from the midwest. I've been quilting for several years and love it. Right now I'm interested in crazy quilts and the embroidery that goes with it. Are there any other crazy ladies out there?

Welcome aboard from another Kansan woman!! You are right down the road from me!!! Have you been to Addadi's fabric shop on 87th by the library??

lynnefaye 08-27-2009 06:31 AM

Thank you for your welcome, Dorothy. Yes, I have been to Addadi's fabrics. For several years I ran a clothing ministry in the store right beside his building. Do you belong to a quilt guild? Here is my email if you would like to be in touch.

Hi Lynnefaye,

I live in Olathe, and am getting back into quilting after 2 years. There is a lot of information, and lots of talent on here. There are several quilt shows in the area in the next few months, do you get any?

Take care, Cindy

kaykuilts 08-27-2009 09:42 AM

Hi teacup. I'm curious about your name. Do you collect teacups? I collect teapots. A also had a collection of teacups, but have been giving them to grandkids when they marry.

Rinnie 08-27-2009 09:50 AM

Hi I'm from Springfield, MO and I'm a quiltaholic... It's very addictive...

lynnefaye 08-27-2009 10:13 AM

Thanks for the welcome, Cindy. Don't go to many quilt shows, most days my mobility is iffy. Really enjoy info in this forum and watching quilting videos on QNN. Between that site and YouTube, can learn almost any quilt techinique. Haven't taken any classes but refer to these sites and books to teach myself, so of course, lots of trial and error!!
You are almost my neighbor.

Your new quilting friend, Lynne

lynnefaye 08-27-2009 10:14 AM

Hi, Rinnie---

I keep seeing references to a "great" quilt shop in Springfield. Would you recommend it? We travel thru Springfield/Branson occasionally, should I search for it?
Thanks, Lynne

kacy 49 08-27-2009 03:34 PM

I'm not Rinnie, but, would be glad to answer your question...there use to be more quilt stores in Springfield but, lost one or two...the best one right off 65 is 'Merrily We Quilt Along'(one of my favorites!! Super nice and helful here-always!)...you can look up their chamber and find all. There is another one a few blocks down from this quilt shop. Merrily sells the Gammill and is fun to watch in action and the one a few blocks away sell the HQ but, their service at that shop has never been a positive experience for me personally. So, I now just stop at Merrily. Also, behind 'Lambert's' on 65 is a cute quilt store in that strip mall. She always has different fabrics then most and ideas going on. Her stock is small and don't recommend.them mailing you anything thing if they are out:) They are techn. in Ozark, Mo...the edge of Springfield and who doesn't like to eat at Lambert's:)Also, on the strip in Branson is a mega quilt store...but, you might already know that. Some great quilting stencils there!! And, fabric:)Skeat

lynnefaye 08-28-2009 07:20 AM

Thanks for the info Skeat, will plan to check out quilt stores on our next trip south. And yes, Lambert's!! Yum, now I am gluten free so no more "throwed rolls" but plenty of other great eats.

cyniree 08-28-2009 09:12 AM

Hi Lynne,

If you ever think you would like to try and go to a quilt show, let me know.

Take care, Cindy

Esqmommy 08-28-2009 09:15 AM

Welcome from Pleasant Hill, CA. Lots of fun around here, and give us pictures please!!!!!!

lynnefaye 08-28-2009 10:21 AM

Thanks, Cindy, I'll do that. Do you plan to go to the Expo in Oct? A lot of walking but I would like to go to check all the vendors, not actually take a class. Went to the Peddlar's Wagon Quilt Shop in Parkville last week, was worth going.
I have fibromyalgia so I make plans then sometimes have to modify or ditch those plans. Do you belong to a guild?
