i've been lurking and occasionally commenting, and thought it was about time i actually crawled out to say "hi". i'm a granny of 8, full-time certified registered nurse anesthetist, married for 42 years, and a fabric junkie. quilting entered my life when i was just a little kid--i had a step great-grandmother from Lancaster,PA, who gifted me with a couple of quilts, two grandmas from sweden who made quilts, and a mom who sewed. warm quilts from folks who loved me were second nature. now, i get to pass that on. don't have as much time as i'd like to sew/quilt, but someday i'll retire, and sew myself into a coma! hope to get to know you all on the boards, here.

i am fully american--but second generation swede. all of my grandparents were from sweden, and my parents were the first children born here. swede runs deep in our veins. my kids are half scottish--and my middle daughter says that's why they are uppity females--warriors on both sides of the family!

in fact, there is lutefisk for christmas dinner, again, this year...

my grandpa on dad's side called me "lilla flicka"--little girl. i loved it. maybe it was just his early alzheimers, and he really couldn't remember my name!! either way, the "flicka" has been around for a long time...
