I will put some on line, pictures, as soon as I figure out how to do this. I have made many jean purses, with designs, quilt wall hangings, Christmas Stockings, baby quilts and etc. I don't sell just make for gifts family and friends. At this time we are in Lake Whitney, Texas.

Welcome from Ohio. Do you spend most of your time on the road or in parks? When do you sew? I'm asking because my husband will retire in 9 months and we are thinking seriously about an RV.

crafterbarbara 12-29-2009 09:52 PM

We have been on the road 12 years this coming February. I sew when we are sat in one place for several days. My husband is a golfer and I sew then. Our travels have taken us to Alaska, Canada and all 49 states here on the mainland. We are staying in one location longer than we did the 1st several years. It has been a fun adventure.

Good luck and happy traveling. Have you joined any of the R V clubs. We attended an Escappe Rally our 1st year. Very informative and so helpful. Lots to learn. Do you have a unit? We prefer our 5th to a motorhome.

lisalovesquilting 12-29-2009 09:59 PM

No, to both of your questions. :-( If you don't mind another question: why do you prefer the 5th wheel :?:

I don't carry the stash that I would like, but there are storage places. Under the bed, where a washer and dryer would be, we have a small freezer and on top plastic bins for my supplies.

Hello from Kentucky. hubby and I are thinking about getting one and traveling to tx,but haven't decided yet. sounds like a great trip.

crafterbarbara 12-31-2009 10:22 AM

I have a sister in Coleman, Texas. Where East are you?

MamaBear61 12-31-2009 07:17 PM

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. You are lucky, I am sure my husband would draw the line at taking the sewing machine in the trailer when we camp. He rolls his eyes when I pack in a current knit or crochet project and they don't even take up that much space

amma 12-31-2009 10:04 PM

Hello and Welcome :D:D:D
What a great way to travel!!!

crafterbarbara 01-01-2010 06:33 AM

Difference we are not going camping. This is our home and our life we have chosen. Right now the table has my sewing machine, and all kinds of Christmas fabrics I am dressing up a round tablecloth for a gift. But this is what makes me happy. And if I am happy so is he. My Bill is very patience and understanding. Thank goodness.

Hello and welcome from SW Iowa.

Hi! Being from Georgia you would think it would be warm today but it is cold -- quilting weather for sure. Decided to try getting involved with a message group and this is the one I chose. Have been reading post on scrap quilts and enjoy it. Love scrap quilts thanks for the info. Til later Happy Quilting.

Debra Mc 01-03-2010 09:31 AM

CrafterBarbara if you were talking to me, I'm in Palestine, Tx.

crafterbarbara 01-03-2010 10:10 AM

I will have to look at a map and see where this is. Do you know where Lake Whitney is?

Debra Mc 01-04-2010 09:31 AM

Yes. My dad use to fish there. Coleman is right at 255 miles from me. It is in north central Texas & I'm way south east of Dallas. I'm 45 miles south Of Tyler ,TX.

Welcome to the board from Eastern Washington state! You are in an envious position, living and traveling in your 5th wheel!
My husband and I bought a motor home this last summer, but we haven't had the opportunity to take it on a trip yet. My husband was diagnosed with leukemia and I had a pretty involved foot surgery. Our dream is to travel frequently, with trips home to see the kids and the grandkids. We're hoping that his health improves so that we can finally take a trip in our motor home. We have spent time in the RV in our backyard (sleeping and watching movies, etc.). We are both quilters (he just started, but is quite good at it). Any tips and pictures you can send our way for set up and storage of machines, fabric and supplies would be greatly appreciated!

crafterbarbara 01-06-2010 11:19 AM

Our mailing address is Warden, Wa. Daughter has taken care of our mail for 11 years. We have never lived there, visit each year.

We have and believe there is more room in a 5th for living and storing. Our home is a Newmar Mountain Aire, 3 slides. Living room has a cubby hole where my embroidery machines sits. I can sit in my recliner and watch it stitch. Serger rides in the bottom of my closet, and sewing machine behind my chair at the dinning room table. Thread cases under (3) the couch.
Sold the washer and dryer and have a freezer in this area with a shelf above and my tubes of fabric and supplies. A big storage under our bed and I do have a few tubs underneath. Could I have more? Certainly but stores aren't too far apart.

Pray for you and your husband to receive better health soon, and get on the road. Take slow trips, don't fly down the road and miss the good stuff. Hope we meet up one day.

Thank you, Barbara! We see the oncologist again today to get results of DH's most recent CT scan and MRI. We are looking on the positive side! In the meantime, I hope you have "happy trails"! :D

Our son was diagnoised with cancer two years ago. His 1st chemo treatment in a cancer clinic almost killed him. He lost 43 pounds in 13 days. He transferred himself to a clinic in Reno, Nevada. Century Wellness Clinic, who works miracles and did with our Bill. Many come from all over the world and other statess for his care. Here is his web site www.drforsythe.com, I would send you a brochure if I had your snail mail. Best of good results to receive today.
